Reggie Ball - Quarterback

Athletic, play-making quarterback and the reigning Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year award . . . Tech's first ACC Rookie of the Year winner since tailback Jimmy Lincoln in 1991 and fifth overall ... Second-team Freshman All-America by The Sporting News, which also tabbed him the Offensive Freshman of the Year in the ACC ... Started every game as a true freshman and impressed with his poise and play-making ability ... The first true freshman in Georgia Tech history to start at quarterback in the Yellow Jackets' season opener. 2003: Set Georgia Tech records for passing yards (1,996), pass completions (181) and total offense (2,380) by a freshman ... Completed 52 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions ... Tech's second-leading rusher with 139 carries for 384 yards and three touchdowns ... Named ACC Rookie of the Week five times during the season



Offensive Player of the Year
Hugh Reily - Center

Two-year starter on the offensive line, including one season at guard before moving to center last fall ... All-star candidate for 2003 who should be one of the leaders of the offense and the team ... Began his career as a defensive lineman but switched to offense in the spring of 2000. 2002: Started every game at center and earned honorable mention all-ACC recognition... Played every snap in every game but three ... Preseason nominee for the Dave Rimington Award as the nation's top center ... Helped the Tech offense remain productive despite the loss of the nation's leading rusher. 2001: Started every game at right guard and played virtually every snap, except for lopsided wins over Navy and the Citadel ... Named Tech's Most Improved Offensive Player for 2001 ... Backup at center and guard in 2000, playing in five games ... Redshirted in 1999.



Defensive Player of the Year
Darryl Smith - Middle Linebacker

Honorable mention all-ACC defender who has been Tech's leading tackler two of the last three seasons... Talented middle linebacker who anchors a Tech defense that ranks among the Top 30 nationally in rushing defense, total defense and scoring defense ... Named to the Academic All-ACC football team for 2002 ... Elected one of Tech's permanent team captains for 2003 ... Selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl following his senior season. Career totals of 383 tackles, 15 sacks, 48 tackles for loss and three interceptions ... Ranks fourth in Tech history, and first among linebackers, in career tackles for loss, behind only defensive ends Greg Gathers, Marco Coleman and Pat Swilling ... Also stands 11th in Tech history in career tackles. 2003: Key player on a Tech defense that led the ACC and ranked 12th in the nation against the run, allowing 110.5 yards per game, as well as 20th nationally in total defense (322.2) and 27th scoring defense (20.46) ... Helped Tech hold Maryland to 253 yards and three points, Florida State to 251 yards and 13 points, Auburn to 243 yards and three points, and Tulsa to 10 points and 144 yards ... Averages 10.2 tackles per game and has 14 tackles for loss ... Second on the team in tackles with 116, behind fellow linebacker Keyaron Fox ... Made one of the key plays in Tech';s win over Auburn with his fourth-down sack of QB Jason Campbell; had 10 tackles.
