Coach of the Year
Rick Comegy - Jackston State University

Rick Comegy's coaching experience spans over a 30-year period. He becam head football coach at Jackson State University on December 9, 2005. In 2007, his second season at Jackson State, the Tigers won their first Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship since the 1996 season. His Golden Tigers completed the 2000 season with a perfect 12-0 record. Comegy's team won the 2000 National Black College Football Championship and the SIAC Championship.


Offensive Player of the Year
Jay Peck - Alabama State University

Peck capped a stunning career by being named the 2007 SWAC Offensive Player of the Year. His coach, former NFL veteran Reggie Barlow, calls him "the guy who gets it", as Peck graduated prior to the beginning of his senior football season. After playing in several positions over his first two years, Peck emerged as one of the nation's top running backs in 2006.


Defensive Player of the Year
Zack East - Prairie View University

Named 2007 Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Named College Sports National Performer of the Year (FCS)...Recognized on six different All-American Teams. East is a strong consistent linebacker with a nose for finding the ball and making stops. He transferred from Hampton University & was PVAMU's leading tackler this past season.
