Coach of the Year
Charles Coe - Alabama State University

Charles Coe III, who has servers in many capacites at serveral division 1-a football programs, was named interim head football coach at Alabama State University on August 4, 2003. Before the 2004 season, he had the interim tag removed and now it is easy to see why he was given the job on a permanent basis. In his two seasons at ASU, He has led the Hornets to an 18-7 reocrd, two Soutwestern Atletich Conference Eastern Division titles and the 2004 SWAC Championship with a 40-35 wion over Southern University. The conference championship was only the second in school history and the first since 1991. The 2004 season saw coe lead the Hornets to only its second 10-win season in school history. ASU also led the SWAC in total offense and scoring offense as nine players were named either first or second team All-SWAC, which was also tops in the league. The 10-2 finsh also helped Bama State finish as the 20th ranked Division 1-AA team in the country, the first time ASU finished with a national ranking since 1991.

Offensive Player of the Year
Thomas Ricks- Southern University

Senior Season(2004) Ricks finished off a terrific senior season by leading the Southern Jaguars to an 8-4 overall record and second consecutive trip to the SWAC Championship Game & "TR" led the Jaguars in rushing with 694 yards and 9 touchdowns on 144 carries & the 6-4, 220 pound LaPlace, LA. native, led the SWAC in total offense, total offensive TD's, and total offensive yards; while finishing 6th in the SWAC in rushing and 7th in scoring (TD's) & Ricks finished the 1004 season wiith the second-best passing season in Southern University history (2786 yards and 24 TDsZ).. He also had four 100-yard rushing games in the last five games...TR threw for 5 touchdowns ina game, twice this season, and threw for 3 touchdowns three other times & Ricks also had a hand in 3566 yards and 34 TD's -a along with foursuccessful fourth-quarter ralies & Also caught 1 pass for a 55 yard touchdown versus Alabama State & Ranked 10 in NCAA 1-AA in total offense & Ranked 42nd in NCAAA 1-AA in Passing Efficiency and 98th in rushing.

Defensive Player of the Year
Lenny Williams - Defensive Back - Southern University

Williams - one of three SU captains... Williams played and started in all 46 games in his career on the bluff. The three-time All American and three-time first team All-SWAC Defensive Back, led the team in tackles with 87, tied for second in interceptions with 3, including a school record 98-yards return for a score against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. In the SWAC Championship Game, Williams rose to the occasion, making 9 tackles and recovering a fumble. Williams was chosen as SWAC Defensive Player of the Year... named 1st team American Football Coaches Association All-American... Named 3rd team AP All-American... 100% Wrong Club of Atlanta Defensive Player of the Year... Played in the East-West Shrine Game on January 10th in San Francisco.
