CIAA Coach and Player's of the Year

Coach of the Year
Deondri Clark - Shaw University

After a 25-year hiatus, Shaw football has been reintroduced to the CIAA. With that introduction comes the introduction of a head football coach. On September 3, 2003 Shaw University named Diondri Clark as its head football coach. Clark, a 1993 graduate of Florida State, was Shaw's defensive coordinator in 2002. He lead Shaw to an impressive 7-3 record in 2003 as the Bears also finished 4-3 in the CIAA. Prior to coming to Shaw, Clark was the defensive line coach at Benedict College (2001-02). Prior to that he was a graduate assistant coach at Michigan State (2000-01) and Central Michigan (1999-2000). He earned his master's of arts degree from Central Michigan in 2003. A native of Winter Garden, FL, Clark was a standout defensive lineman for the Seminoles and legendary coach Bobby Bowden. He played on four Florida State teams that won bowl games. His record as a Seminole was 42-7 and Florida State never finished less than #4 in the AP rankings. Clark is married to the former Dawn Herd of Indianapolis, IN and they had their first child, Deondri II in August, 2003.


Offensive Player of the Year
Adrian Warren - North Carolina Central University

2004: Topped the CIAA in passing with 174.6 yards per game (1,746 yards), touchdown passes (20), and pass efficiency with a 126.01 rating (138 for 264 passing / 9 INTS / 20 TDs), also rushed for two touchdowns. Led the Ciaa's No. 1 total offense (359.3 yards per game) and scoring offense (29.8). Team finished with an 8-2 overall record, becoming just the sixth team in school history to win eight games in a season. Voted CIAA Offensive Player of the Year, All-CIAA First Team, Five-time CIAA Offensive Back of the Week (out of 10 weeks), thew career-best four touchdown passes on 12 for 25 passing for 207 yards at Livingstone College (oct. 23). Threw for a career high 248 yards and three touchdowns on 18 for 29 passing against Winston-Salem State (Oct. 16). Became just the third quarterback in school history to throw for more than 1,700 yards in a single season.
